Laura Linney - Biography
Early life
Born in New York on February 5, 1964, Laura is the daughter of respected off-Broadway playwright Romulus Linney. Although her parents divorced while she was young, Laura received plenty of exposure to the stage world, becoming a self professed "theatre kid".
"My parents were divorced and I didn't grow up with (my father), but I spent a lot of time around him, and his influence on me has been profound," she later reflected. Following prep school in Massachusetts, the budding thespian attended Brown University - graduating in 1986 with a degree in theatre arts. She continued her academic career at the prestigious Julliard school in New York and it was here Laura made her professional acting debut in The Matriarch and Top Girls.
