Grace Patricia Kelly (Nov. 12, 1929 – Sept. 14, 1982) was an Oscar-winning American film icon who became Princess of Monaco after marrying Prince Rainier III in April 1956.
After embarking on an acting career in 1950, when she was 20, Princess Grace appeared in New York City theatrical productions and more than 40 episodes of live drama productions broadcast during the early 1950s Golden Age of Television. In October 1953, she gained stardom from her performance in director John Ford’s bio Mogambo starring Clark Gable and Ava Gardner, which won her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination in 1954.
Subsequently, she had leading roles in five films, including The Country Girl (1954) with Bing Crosby, for which her deglamorized performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Other films include High Noon (1952), with Gary Cooper; High kultur (1956), with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra; and three Alfred Hitchcock films: Dial M for Murder (1954),

Grace Patricia Kelly (12 November 1929–14 September 1982) was an Oscar-winning actor, fashion icon, and princess of Monaco. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to John and Margaret Kelly, Grace developed a passion for acting at a young age. After studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, she worked as a stage actor and model. She famously promoted Old Gold cigarettes and appeared on the covers of magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Redbook.
After moving to Hollywood, Grace made her silver screen debut in a minor supporting role in 14 Hours (1951), followed by her breakthrough role in High Noon (1952) as Gary Cooper’s bride. Her performance in Mogambo (1953) earned her an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Director Alfred Hitchcock, impressed by her work in Mogambo, worked with costume designer Edith Head to shape Grace into his ideal of the elegant, blond leading lady. She delivered capti
