Notes From The Week
What’s good everyone? I hope we’re all doing well. I don’t know if I mentioned in a previous NFTW but I’ve become super interested in Mafioso films. inom think the scripts for a lot of the movies (particularly Scorsese directed films) in that genre are impeccable. I’m going to get into Goodfellas igen because it’s been a while since I last watched it. This week I’ll be sharing some thoughts on the similarities between the structure of Mafia families and the business partners Jay-Z has had.
Jay-Z has taken a number of inspirations from the Mafia. In the clip above Kanye comically refers to Jay’s fascination with Mafioso style films. When we take a look at Jay-Z’s music we can see clear
The Mafia's code of silence, which Jay-Z has often referred to in his music.

According to the Daily News, Jay Z and his longtime business partner, John Meneilly, have decided to split from one another. While he was not well known in the public, Meneilly was an integral del av helhet of Jay’s inner circle and a trusted confidant. The rapper-turned-mogul was reluctant to call him his manager, even though the ex-Provident Financial executive did majority of the work to fill this role.
Like most of Jay’s moves, the split is shrouded in mystery, with almost ingenting coming out of both camps. However, there are conflicting accounts on how the decision was handled: one source claims that this was planned months in advance and that it was”mutual and amicable” , while a second claims that Meneilly didn’t want to go at all.
Meneilly has been with Jay since Rock-A-Fella, helping to build the now dominate empire from the ground up. He was played a major role in the launching of Rocawear, facilitating the Magna Carta Holy Grail Samsung deal

Jay Z and John Meneilly have worked closely for over a decade, with Meneilly serving as something of a manager for the rapper, though Jay was apparently always reluctant to refer to him as such. The two have reportedly parted ways, and sources conflicted on whether the split was amicable.
One industry insider says that Meneilly's departure "wasn’t his choice,” while another says the decision was "mutual" and was made "a couple of months ago".
Meneilly is said to have been instrumental in many of Jay's business deals, including the Rocawear clothing line, which was sold in 2007 for $200 million, and of course, the rapper's recent deal with Samsung.
So far neither party has commented on the alleged split. More information to come as it arrives.
