  • Ana Lily Amirpour&#;s feature directorial debut was A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (), self-described as &#;the first Iranian vampire spaghetti western&#; and starring Sheila Vand, Arash Marandi, Marshall Manesh, Dominic Rains, Mozhan Marno and Rome Shadanloo. The film built up significant buzz when it premiered at the Sundance rulle Festival, eventually being picked up by Kino Lorber and distributed by VICE films. The rulle also won the &#;Revelations Prize&#; at the Deauville Film Festival and also won Carnet Jove Jury Award as well as the Citizen Kane Award for Best Directorial Revelation from the Sitges Film Festival. The bio was also nominated for the Halekulani Golden Orchid award at the Hawaii International Film Festival.

    Ana Lily AMIRPOUR (, UK) is a director, screenwriter, producer and actress. Before moving to Los Angeles to become a filmmaker, she lived in California as an artist, bass guitarist and singer. She attended San Francisco State University as an art major for her undergraduate degree, and then graduated from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Amirpour has made short films since she was twelve. Her fiction feature debut, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (), self-described as &#;the first Iranian vampire spaghetti western&#;, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won her many awards. Amirpour is a lifelong skater, and was a stand-in for the skateboarding sequences in the rulle. Her second film, The Bad Batch (), premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury prize. Her film Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon () also premiered in Venice.

    Filmmaker Ana Lily Amirpour was born in England in Her family then relocated to Miami, FL and finally settled in Bakersfield, CA. It was there that Amirpour spent her adolescence, and when the time came to select a college, she chose to remain in California. Amirpour first attended an art school in the San Francisco area, but ultimately graduated from UCLA's School of Theater, Film & Television. Amirpour's first short film was made in and was titled "Six and a Half." She followed up this effort with a number of other short films such as "True Love" (), "Pashmaloo" (), "I Feel Stupid" () and "The Garlock Incident" (). Her first feature film was the critically-acclaimed drama "A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night"(). The film was adapted from a short of the same name, which Amirpour directed in Amirpour described the film as "the first Iranian vampire spaghetti western," telling the story of a lone vampire living in an Iranian ghost town.
