    Michael Scott Lang (December 11, 1944 – January 8, 2022)[1] was an American concert promoter, producer, and artistic manager who was best known as a co-creator of the Woodstock Music & Art Festival in 1969.[2] Lang served as the organizer of the event,[3][4] as well as the organizer for its follow-up events, Woodstock '94 and the ill-fated Woodstock '99.[3] He later became a producer of records, films, and other concerts, as well as a manager for performing artists, a critically acclaimed author, and a sculptor.

    Michael Anthony Lang (born Michael Herbert Lang; December 10, 1941 – August 5, 2022) was an American pianist and composer, who was recognized for his highly prolific career as a pianist on more than 2500 film scores.

    Lang was one of two sons born to publicists Jennings Lang and Flora Pam Friedheim.[1][3][4][a] He was also raised in part by his stepmother, singer Monica Lewis, beginning in 1956, four years after the premature death of his birth mother.[6][3] Lang obtained a bachelor of music at the University of Michigan in 1963, and studied under Leonard Stein, George Tremblay, Pearl Kaufman, and Lalo Schifrin.
