  • Tributes to Feridun

    Dear Feridun,

Our paths first crossed because of the partnership between the University of Waterloo and BlackBerry. The partnership between our organizations has been of great value to so many students, as well as to the entire country of Canada who is now known worldwide for its exceptional technology talent.

I am delighted that our relationship evolved into a treasured friendship, in which we have enjoyed discussions on diversity, the arts, travel, foods of all cultures, and more. Your extensive experience is both exciting and thought-provoking.

While I think you are too young to retire, I wish you much happiness in this new chapter of your life. It is hard to believe it has been a year since we last met, at dinner in California before the world changed. I look forward to when we can celebrate in-person once we can travel again.

Thank you for all you have done and heartfelt congratulations on your retirement!

    Sincerely,

    - John Chen
