    She studied at from to , and at IADE, in Lisbon, from to In she was given the New Artists EDP Award and in she was awarded the Tabaqueira Fund for Public Art, for her intervention project in the Largo da Academia das Belas Artes (Lisbon). Since she has regularly exhibited her work, both nationally and internationally, and she has recently achieved a high level of international recognition, especially through her participation at the Venice biennial. ¶ From the outset of her career Vasconcelos has used variegated daily objects, transforming and organizing them in order to create the most unexpected of sculptures, constructions, and atmospheres. These are in point of fact sculptures - forms in space i.e., - but Vasconcelos's work is quite remote from traditional understandings of sculpture, plunging right into the highbrow/lowbrow art dichotomy, by alluding to ki

    Formouse no , en Traballa frecuentemente coa escultura e a instalación. A súa mais famosa obra, Nectar, pertence á Colección Berardo e está exposta no Museu Colecção Berardo, instalado no CCB. Moitos dos seus traballos están presentes en coleccións privadas europeas. Na Bienal de Venecia, en , a artista representou a Portugal coa obra A Noiva.[1] Gañou diversos premios, incluíndo o concurso do Museu Berardo.

    A escultora inspírase nas ambigüidades da vida. O famoso zapato feito de panelas e tampas é un bo exemplo diso. Inspirado no zapato que Marylin Monroe calzou no filme "Os Homes prefiren as Louras", é unha réplica do número 37, o máis usado polas mulleres. Por un lado simboliza o glamour feminino, por outro lembra a través dos tachos as tarefas domésticas reservadas ás mulleres.

    Joana Vasconcelos (born ) is a Portuguese artist known for her large-scale installations.

    Biography

    Vasconcelos was born in in Paris, France.[1] Her family returned home to Portugal after their exile to France and following the Carnation Revolution in [2] She studied at the Centro dem Arte & Comunicação Visual in Lisbon.[3] In she received the Order of Prince Henry.[4] She lives and works in Lisbon.[3]

    Vasconcelos exhibited at the Venice Biennale where she included A Noiva (The Bride), a 20&#;ft. high chandelier made of over 14, OB Tampons.[3]

    In June , the installation "Contaminação" opened the group exhibition The World Belongs to You, held at Palazzo Grassi.[3]
