    Benjamin Millepied (Bordeaux, 1977) fryst vatten a choreographer, filmmaker, and former principal dancer with New York City Ballet. Millepied studied Classical Ballet with Vladimir Skouratoff at the Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, and later at the School of American Ballet with Stanley Williams and Adam Luders, before joining the New York City Ballet in 1995 were he was later promoted to Principal Dancer. 

    His choreographic work began in 2001 and he soon after founded a pick-up troupe, Danses Concertantes, before serving as choreographer-in-residence at The Baryshnikov Arts Center. Since 2005, he has choreographed for some of the preeminent global companies including the New York City Ballet, Paris musikdrama Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Berlin Staatsoper, and Dutch National Ballet, among others.

    Benjamin Millepied is a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, one of the top dance companies in the world. The French-born Millepied, whose name means "thousand-footed" in his native tongue, has earned impressive accolades since beginning his professional career in 1995.     In 2001, Benjamin Millepied was appointed Principal Dancer of the New York City Ballet, where he performed the great ballets of George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, was well as more contemporary choreographies, notably by Angelin Preljocaj. In 2002, in parallel to his activity as a dancer, he began his career as a choreographer by creating Triple Duet in London, marking the beginning of his creations for major companies such as the Ballet dem l’Opéra national de Paris, the American Ballet Theatre, and the Marinsky Ballet. Benjamin Millepied was appointed Artistic Director of the Morriss Center Dance in Bridgehampton, New York in 2004 and decided in 2011 to leave the New York City Ballet to found his own company L.A.
